About Me

Kabindra Shakya

I am an environmental scientist (Associate Professor of Environmental Science at the Department of Geography and the Environment at Villanova University) working in issues of outdoor and indoor air pollution, specifically particulate matter, ozone, and nitrogen oxides. My work also involves assessing trace metal contaminants (heavy metals such as lead) in soil samples from community gardens, residences, and parks. I am specifically interested in issues of environmental justice. I am also interested in working in various environmental issues in developing countries.

I am originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. I completed most of my earlier education in Nepal. My PhD work focused on chemical characteristics of particulate matter and my postdoc work focused on assessing health effects from the exposure to particulate matter.
